Nigel ‘Monki’ Hodgson is both a successful angler, and a keen angling writer, who has had big fish from hard venues on both sides of the North-South divide.

Before migrating down ‘Souf’ he fished waters local to his homeland of Goole near Hull, were he cut his teeth at venues such as Drax and Three Lakes.

He specializes in creating feeding situations with heavy baiting, - which entails lots of priming with copious quantities of boilies, and visits to watch for feeding activity. He is also a dab hand at zig fishing, particles, surface fishing, stalking...  basically catching - not camping!

Since moving down South, and developing an iffy ‘mockney’ accent, he has concentrated on fishing at the Yateley complex – fishing both the Car Park and North Lake, and latterly on the Frimley complex, catching many of the exceptionally big and beautiful common carp that live in the lakes there. Having caught virtually all the big fish in Pit 3, he is now concentrating on Pit 4 (the Big Doughnut) where the fish are even more stunning.

He has already started his campaign superbly catching some beautiful commons – and the best is yet to come......
