Paul Hatton
Paul has been a dedicated carp angler for over 17 years now. Along the way he has fished for and caught some of the very best ‘original’ carp living in his local Cheshire waters. With trips to France, visits to lots of well known UK day ticket waters and a sprinkling of competition fishing Pauls experience and knowledge base has grown, and given him that essential confidence in his approach that has brought him success is many different angling situations.
Paul is becoming known for his extreme long range fishing and loves to use that special ability to gain an added edge in his fishing, but also has a passion for stalking and setting traps in the margins where he can really learn from the fish’s behaviour. As a result of his observations of carp feeding Paul has been busy developing some very successful rigs that will soon be featured in various magazines for all to see, so you can expect to see a lot of him in the future!
He is employed by ‘Franks Baits’ as Production Manager where he is responsible for the finished product that leaves the factory, overseeing all of the production processes and dealing with enquiries/orders from both anglers and the trade. He says he aims to provide a service that he would expect to receive if the tables were turned – a philosophy to customer service that he shares with us here at Gardner Tackle.

To me, productive fishing trips are all about making the right decisions when you arrive at your chosen venue. You maybe lucky enough to find some fish in an area that is uninhabited by other anglers, you may have a bait that those carp will find irresistible but how much thought has gone into your presentation and the efficiency of your rig? If you get the odd couple of bleeps when you are fishing will you call it a liner or will you wonder if a fish has managed to rid itself of your hook? If this has happened would that get the alarm bells ringing to other fish that maybe feeding nearby? Now I’m not trying to make you paranoid but I think this happens all the time and it’s worth being aware before casting a rig out on to that hotspot. These thoughts ... (read more...)
Going long.... by Paul Hatton
Going long....

I would sit and watch the fish cruising up and down along the far margin, where fishing was not allowed, their backs would often be out of the water and I could pretty much count them as I sat on my bed chair over a hundred and thirty yards away feeling rather ...
